Under Fives Termly Newsletter
We would like to welcome you all back following the Easter break. Also, we would like to welcome our new children and parents to Gower House.
We have many exciting activities planed for this term but before we give you details we would like to bring a few points to your attention.
Uniform
We remind you that all items of uniform must be clearly labelled with your child’s name. The warm weather is fast approaching and children will soon be taking off their jumpers. Items of clothing are easily mislaid but are more likely to be returned if they are appropriately labelled. We stress that staff members cannot be held responsible for items of uniform that go missing and cannot be found because they have not been labelled.
Children must wear appropriate footwear in order to participate in the daily activities. Open toed sandals and plimsoles are not suitable for school and we ask that parents refrain from putting their children in such footwear.
The school office will be selling the school uniform summer cap when the weather gets warmer. The price is £5. Only the school cap should be worn to school. Any other caps will not be permitted. Also, available from Pullens, the school outfitters, are the summer shorts. You can order them over the phone on 020 8954 3850 and they will be delivered to the school the following Thursday.
As the term progresses and the weather warms up, we recommend that you apply sun cream to your child in the morning before school. We are not authorised to administer sun cream. Therefore, we would be grateful for your co-operation. The children will be spending more time outside and without the appropriate protection are likely to be affected by the sun. In addition, children in the nursery and upper nursery are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school, also with their name on. This will be kept aside so that children will have access to a drink throughout the day.
Collection times
All Under Fives classes start at 9.00a.m and end at 3.15p.m. Children must be collected promptly. Late children will be taken to afterschool where there will be a charge payable. Children in Miss Bridgman’s and Mrs Tomoiaga’s group from the nursery will now be dismissed, at the end of the day from the art room. Parents of children in these groups should wait in the playground to pick their children up at 3.15p.m. Attached is a copy of our collection of children policy for you to keep.

School News
April 2010
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the Summer Term at Gower House.
There will be no music lessons or piano lessons, unfortunately, until next Monday as Miss Sologub has not been able to return from abroad because of flight cancellations. Swimming lessons will also begin next week.
Hopefully, the weather will continue to improve and children will be able to wear summer uniform. Girl’s summer dresses should be worn only with white socks, not black tights. Also no open toed shoes or sandals, please. Children should bring a bottle of water to school each day, especially on a Monday when they have sports.
Uniform anoraks are available again from the school office. Non-uniform anoraks or hats should no longer be worn.
You are reminded that parking is available at the church car park across the road. Please do not park at the Acadia flats next door to the school or across the main school gates or the pub pull in immediately adjoining.
Lessons begin promptly at 9.00a.m. each morning. Please make sure your child is on time. Late children not only miss important teaching time, but their late arrival disrupts the lesson for the other children.
I am delighted to inform you the amount of £2690.36 was raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital last term. Well done to all the children who participated in raising money for this worthwhile cause.
Attached are copies of this year’s Transfer to Secondary School list and current holiday dates. Also, I enclose details of revised school fees effective from September. Fees have not been increased for two years.
